Guys, I wanna buy Pinnacle Studio Moviebox.
Is this capture device good?

I saw on ebay only US$200 is that cheap or not?

Do you have any better suggestion?

I only need it for capturing movie from my minidv. Not for a heavy video
editing.

Do you think it will be suitable for me?

Thank you,

Pinnacle Studio is the worst piece of crap software I have ever used.
It crashes *constantly*.

If you are capturing MiniDV you don't need a analog to digital converter,
just a firewire card.
I haven't used the Pinnacle movie box but I doubt it's better than the
Canopus ADVC100.

Pinnacle Studio Moviebox is unstable - only works on a specific range of
firewire cards. Mountains of other problems.
I took mine back after numerous attempts. Luckily I had a email printout
from the Australian distributor telling me I had an incompatible firewire
card.
Hard to find a Texas Instrument chipset firewire card card unless you use
theirs.
Worked well for digital input to a PC then digital to analogue output but
NOT analogue input from VHS tapes to a PC.
Unless this has been sorted out in the last few months leave your money
in your pocket.

Any USB2 or Firewire card should handle input capture from the camera.
As long as your capture program on your computer can "see" the
usb/firewire card, all should be fine.

Lots of software for capture/edit/author are available. Some are free.

If you are not computer savy, especially on Multimedia, l advise you to
NOT use Pinnacle products (speaking from experiance)
